At first glance Ensenada may not appear to be the most child friendly place. By this I mean people are extremely warm and welcoming towards children, however, the facilities and spaces available for children in Ensenada can be tricky to find unless recommended by locals or someone who knows the area.
It has taken me almost 5 years to get to a point that I know what Ensenada has to offer, both in the city and surrounding areas in nature.
Hanging out with children in the city quickly gets boring as a lot of child friendly places are cafes or soft play areas which cost $$$ and serve junk food. This adds up if you want to go out with your child X times a week in the city. It also feels wrong that the only places I can take my children outside is straight into another restricted zone.
Now, this may surprise you: Ensenada is brimming with hidden gems that lead you straight into nature!
On the other hand, Ensenada (despite not being well advertised) has hundreds of nature trails, waterfalls, streams, canyons, valleys and national parks that are perfect for active, nature loving children. I mean, we adore the beach but we do miss trees, woodland, plants, and anything that alludes to seasonal changes in the wild.
Without further ado,
here are 5 best places to take your children in Ensenada if you’re yearning for the freedom and exploration that nature brings.
1. Cañon de Doña Petra Ecological Park
3. Encino Solo
5. JardÃn Vecinal Cuatro Milpas Botanico Garden
There are many more places to explore. This list is just the beginning! Keep in mind many outdoor places in Ensenada have no name so are tricky to search for unless you already know where you are going and what you’re looking for.
